Create The Perfect Kickoff To Pride Month

Pride Month is almost here! Let your true colors shine at an LGBTQIA+-friendly weekend getaway on the beautiful Central Coast! Whether you’re looking for a fun-filled weekend with friends or a romantic getaway with your significant other, this itinerary will help you create the perfect Pride kickoff with Splash Café and Apple Farm Inn.

1) Check into the Apple Farm and Explore Downtown SLO

Welcome to SLO! We’re so GLAAD you’re here! Start things off by checking into your chic and recently renovated room at Apple Farm Inn. Nibble on some fresh, complimentary cookies and then stop in at the Apple Farm Cellar for their “First Friday” tasting, featuring fine wines from Lone Madrone and refreshing ciders from Bristols Cider House (both are SLOCAL favorites!). Pro tip: Save up to 40% on rooms through Apple Farm Inn’s cybersale through June 14!

After getting settled in and toasting to the festivities to come, head downtown for dinner. There are plenty of top-notch restaurants from which to choose. Craving Italian? Try Giuseppe’s Restaurant or Flour House for some killer pasta and pizza. Want some good libations and upscale pub food? Finney’s Crafthouse is a crowd-pleaser. Looking for something more intimate? Share small plates, seafood, and more at Luna Red.

Now it’s time to party! Do it loud and proud at the Central Coast Pride Burlesque & Drag Show, This event will run from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Fremont Theatre and feature a DJ, performances by United Queendom ft. Andre Mayhem and SLO Tease Burlesque Troupe, along with signature cocktails.

2) Have the Ultimate Beach Day with Splash Café

After dancing the night away, make sure to sleep in and enjoy a late breakfast from the Apple Farm Restaurant. Their famous Apple Fritter Pancakes and Eggs Benedict are made from locally sourced ingredients and served until noon.

Then head back to your hotel room and get ready for a day of fun in the sun in Pismo Beach! We recommend stopping at Splash Café in SLO to pick up our custom Splash Beach Blanket and Baseball Cap (or you can order them in advance online). And don’t forget to pack lots of sunscreen).

At the beach, take a leisurely stroll to watch the waves crash against the shore, lay out on the sand with a good book, or paddle out with a board of your choice if you’re feeling adventurous! However you spend the day, make sure to end it with dinner at Splash Café’s Pismo Beach location. Order some Clam Chowder or Fish and Chips to go and enjoy it while watching the sunset over the Pacific!

3) Live Your Best Life at Pride in the Plaza

It’s your last day in SLO, so make the most of it by relaxing poolside at the Apple Farm! Take a dip in the heated pool or soak in the hot tub while taking in views of the surrounding hills. After you’ve toweled off and changed into your rainbow threads, head downtown for SLO’s Pride in the Plaza from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Mission Plaza.

Established in 1997, Central Coast Pride has been celebrating and empowering the local LGBTQ+ community. Pride in the Plaza will feature all kinds of music, vendors, and delicious drinks, so come out and show your true colors!
