Splash Café to Expand Bakery, Catering and Online Sales

SLO Location Will Close Oct. 30, Bakery Will Move to New Commercial Kitchen Space

Splash Café—a longtime foodie favorite on the Central Coast—is excited to announce you can now get more award-winning clam chowder, seafood, and treats delivered to your door! The restaurant is expanding operations to focus more on its bakery and local and national delivery.

Splash Café Owner/CEO Joanne Currie recently announced she is planning to sell the building at 1491 Monterey St. and move the Artisan Bakery to a commercial kitchen space to meet the growing demands of the bakery. The SLO restaurant will close its doors Oct. 30, 2023, but locals and visitors can still enjoy the Splash Experience at the original, landmark location in Pismo Beach.

“We have loved every minute of the 18 years we have been in SLO and all of the relationships we have made with the local residents and the community,” Currie said. “This decision did not come lightly. There are so many people we will miss, and I want to say that it has been an honor and a privilege to have gotten to know you.”

Currently, Splash Café’s award-winning clam chowder, signature rubs and sauces, cakes, pastries, and merchandise can be purchased and shipped nationwide through our website: Splashcafe.com. Central Coast locals will benefit from the changes too. As part of the bakery expansion, Splash will also be offering delivery of its custom-order cakes and cupcakes throughout SLO County.

“Moving the Artisan Bakery to a commercial kitchen with a new, professional-grade oven and

equipment will allow us to expand our bakery and catering operations,” Currie said. “We’ll also be able to fill more online orders, which is something we’ve been working toward the last couple of years.”

The company has offered employees affected by closure of the SLO location severance packages and a transition program that includes job offers as part of the bakery team or at the Pismo Beach location.

“Taking care of our employees, the Splash Family, has always been important to us,” Currie said. “We created this program to give them as much notice and support as possible during the transition.”
